BPW/USA: Founded
in 1919, the National Federation of Business & Professional Women's
Clubs, a nonprofit, non-sectarian, self-governing, and member supported
organization is dedicated to achieving full participation in the
workforce, equity, and economic self-sufficiency for working women.
Membership is open to those who are now or have been actively engaged
in business or the professions and share the BPW goals.
BPW/FL: The Florida Federation of Business and Professional
Women's Clubs, also organized in 1919, has a membership of approximately
2500 and is actively involved in the legislative arena. The 2002
state focus was domestic violence, with a secondary issue of mentoring.
The 2002 legislative platform included first and foremost the passage
of the Equal Rights Amendment, followed by the issues of economic
self-sufficiency, education, health care, and domestic violence.
